Introduction
What is Multimedia at Nottingham Trent (NTU)?
This questioned hasn’t been answered as Multimedia has changed over the years of being a course at Nottingham Trent. The course has covered Animation, Interactive Design, Games Design, Web Design and Audio Visual, and many more. However we still do not have a reliable answer.
As a current NTU Multimedia student, I would appreciated when choosing my university, more information about the course, as I found it very hard to find a great deal about the course and what happens after. The only substantial information I found about the course was the following:
http://nottinghamtrent.academia.edu/Departments/Multimedia
http://nottingham.floodlight.co.uk/nottingham/course-details-reviews/nottingham-trent-university/multimedia-ba-(hons)/16180339/30066989/course-info.html
Even as a current student, I would have been grateful for more information about the course and the years in which I will study and what they entail. An additional feature I would have liked to know about is what happens when you have finished and have your BA Hons Multimedia degree. I believe that not only prospective students would like to know this, but also current students and parents.
The existing DVD consists of a selection of work by NTU first year students from the year of 2006-2007. The DVD is a plain black menu with clips of the work that if clicked upon, will lead to the short movies. This DVD is also not very varied in style, as it shows mainly interactive narrative and Audio Visual.
The only other example of the course is the past years exhibition catalogues, Milk 2007 and mm08. These unfortunately still do not give a great insight into the course and what you will be doing throughout. They do however tell you what each student has learnt.

The Objective
My objective is to create for Nottingham Trent University’s Multimedia course a short information documentary that will Define Multimedia in various ways, promote the course and give a better understanding of the course. I will do this by interviewing hopefully six ex Nottingham Trent Multimedia students, in different fields of Multimedia, such as Web Design, Audio Visual and Animation. I want to find out how they felt when they began the course, and possibly have a photo for a cut away. I want to find out what work they have had since graduating and what they are currently doing. I want to know how the course affected them, even if they are no longer in the Multimedia industry.
I want this information documentary to show the prospective and current students of Nottingham Trent ‘What Multimedia can do for you’, career wise, the skills you can learn, how it can affect you and your lifestyle and to give advice on the best ways to get on the course. I will be using cut away footage of the university; possibly linking with what is being said throughout the interviews, this depends on the interviewee’s responses. I am hoping not to use a voice over as I think it will make the documentary a lot less interesting and personal. I want this documentary to be positive, informative, interesting and personal to the course.

The Proposal
I will create an 8–15 minutes long Information Documentary DVD, promoting Nottingham Trent University’s Multimedia course. Interviewing hopefully six graduates from different fields of Multimedia, hopefully if willing in their own environment or work place, with questions such as where did multimedia take you?
This documentary when edited should be no longer than fifteen minutes; it will consist of a DVD menu, which could include an extras menu with contact details for the course.
It will be one authored DVD plus menu for Nottingham Trent’s personal use, also I will hand in the avi file, so the course can use this for a Web site if wanted.

Responsibilities/scope of work
1. Design and Development of a DVD for the purpose of promoting and creating a better understanding of the Multimedia course at NTU.
2. I will be using a Z1 camera, tripod, microphone, boom pole and softie.
3. I will need be re-cruiting a crew of 3-4.
4. The DVD will be creative, informative, guiding, easy to use and showing relevant information to the course.
5. The DVD will have a menu.
6. Final product will be DVD compatible, and an AVI file will be given for the use of the Internet for NTU only.
7. I am going to try and create a package for the DVD also containing a case, cover, and label on the DVD.

Research and Contacts

I contacted the creator of the facebook group ‘Multimedia at NTU’ to ask him to forward my email onto the many graduates that belong to this Group.

An email Sent between my lecturer, a graduate (Emma) and myself:
I have contacted an ex student called Emma Lancelotte who says she is coming up in FEB and happy to be interviewed. She is going to send me her telephone number. see info below:
Hi Emma,
